Hyatt Regency Times Square is perfectly located in the heart of Times Square excitement, situated directly on Broadway between 48th and 49th Streets. This iconic, ultra-modern, full-service hotel is surrounded by Broadway theaters and close to world-famous shopping and sightseeing. The hotel has 795 modern, newly renovated guestrooms.



Overview

The Bartender is responsible for taking care of the guests first and foremost with priority to those guests in front of them. Responsibilities include complete set up of the bar area and the mixing of drinks and serving the food for all guests and servers. Need to maintain the service and cleanliness of the bar area, ensuring quality service, guest satisfaction and control over liquor, beer and wine inventory.

Must be able to effectively communicate, both verbally and written, with the guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.

* Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.

* Must be open and willing to work as a team and help colleagues when needed.

* Should be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.

* Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.

* Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.

* Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.

* Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.

* Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.

* Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.

* Have the ability to effectively handle problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.

* Have the ability to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet

appropriate objectives.

* Have the ability to cross-train in other hotel related areas.

* Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information

* Should have the ability to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.

* Perform other duties as requested by management.

* Maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.

Additional Requirements:

* Be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees.

* Process guests' checks, collect cash and process credit cards and room charges according to standards.

* Perform opening and closing side work according to standards to ensure that guests are served promptly and efficiently.

* Retrieve and put away requisition for all items on the bar menu keeping everything at par level.

* Prepare beverages and cocktails according to the standards, for mixing, portion control and presentation.

* Pre-batch cocktails as per recipe book and store and rotate properly.

* Prepare and serve all kinds of hot drinks such as: tea, coffee, espresso, cappuccino, matcha and etc.

* Serve guests with all food and beverage requirements in a warm, friendly, courteous, and professional manner.

* Ensure the lounge areas are kept clean and tidy as well as fully stocked with, china and silver.

* Be familiar with the computer (POS) system. Carry out cashiering functions by closing checks and servicing the guest.

* Follow all state liquor laws.

* Assist in maintaining beverage cost. Use jigger or other measuring tools for beverage preparations.

* Follow prescribed procedures in serving liquor with care to avoid problems with intoxicated guests, and when necessary, report to management. Practice TIPS alcohol service standards.

* Complete beverage requisitions to maintain par levels as needed. (bottle for bottle method)

* Stock and clean glassware. Washing and polishing of all bar and lounge glassware

* Check beer and cold brew coffee tanks to ensure that they are full and secured properly at the bar.

* Prep all garnishes.

* Assist in cleaning of tables and all lounge area as needed.

* Follow up, run and serve food orders from the kitchen to the guests

* Pre-bus and keep a neat and clean bar area, maintain throughout service to bar guest

* Remove when full, replace and bus the dish bin, stock dirty dishes and silverware neatly and quietly in the bus bin.

* Take and deliver to-go food and beverage orders from any guest that requires such service.

* Ensure overall guest satisfaction.

* Breakdown and store all items as required.

* Be familiar with fire extinguishers, locations and know how to use them

* Keep bar and coffee area clean and up to NYC Health department standards including sanitation wipes/buckets and proper use of cleaning/sanitation chemicals.



Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.

* Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages, according to local state laws.

* Must have TIPS, safe alcohol service certification. (T.S.)

* Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required.

* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and /or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

* Ability to stand and move around for extended period of time.

* Previous bartending experience helpful.
