The Newbury Boston at One Newbury Street, located in the premier shopping and dining neighborhood of Boston's Back Bay is an iconic property originally opened in 1927 as one of the first Ritz-Carlton hotels in the U.S. and most recently was the Taj Boston. The building was recently transformed into a 286-room luxury hotel with 16,000-sq-ft of stunning event spaces, signature dining experiences and a reimagined front entrance on Newbury Street.



Overview

The Weddings and Events Service Manager is responsible for coordinating and supervising assigned business after it is booked by the Catering Sales department, and through completion of the event or function, while maintaining profitable operations and high-quality food and beverage presentations and service levels. The Weddings and Events Service Manager is responsible for acting as a liaison between clients and operating departments to ensure a successful event and to generate repeat business.



Responsibilities

    Have comprehensive knowledge of all operational departments within the hotel guest services, reservations, housekeeping, audio visual, accounting, restaurants, and engineering.
  • Interact with outside planners and vendors for event setup.
  • Maintain pricing integrity and propose appropriate menus for clients.
  • Create BEOs and Resumes.
  • Create, review and revise rooming lists.
  • Work with other F&B managers and keep them informed of F&B issues as they arise.
  • Manage event space and adjust space in order to ensure maximum potential revenue.
  • Be visible on the floor and assist staff as needed during events.
  • Participate in department and hotel training.
  • Use feedback from Event Planner evaluations to improve service and quality.
  • Keep immediate supervisor fully informed of all problems or matters requiring his/her attention.
  • Prepare and submit required reports in a timely manner.
  • Follow up on all turnovers within 24 hours.
  • Know meeting room setups and capabilities as well as sleeping room configurations and types.
  • Respond to requests by clients in a timely manner.


Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of progressive experience of managing and detailing events and/or catering in a luxury hotel.
  • Knowledge of hotel social market required.
  • College degree required
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Windows, Delphi FDC, and Opera.
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Medium work Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
