Location The Joseph Hotel - Nashville Overview The General Accountant is responsible for assisting the Director of Finance and Assistant Director of Finance in maintaining accurate and timely financial reporting, ensuring acceptable levels of internal control, and ensuring compliance with all legal regulations and Highgate Hotels Standard Operating Procedures. For this role, the emphasis is placed on Income Journal, Internal Audits, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable in addition to other general accounting functions. Responsibilities WHAT YOU DO Essential Duties & Functions: You will assume responsibility for a variety of accounting functions, specifically income journal, internal audits, accounts receivable, and accounts payable in coordination with the rest of the accounting team. You will monitor, prepare, and communicate financial reports in accordance with all due dates and ensure compliance with Highgate's internal Financial audit. You will communicate with CS to ensure group and function payments are accurate and timely. You will assist with collection calls on outstanding accounts and monitor outgoing payments due to our vendors. You will support in the month-end and year-end closing processes and ensure accurate and efficient processes throughout. Supportive Duties & Functions: In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel. These supportive functions include, but are not limited to: performing supportive functions for the accounting department within your skillset, assist with all AP/AR duties, support payroll functions in tandem with Human Resources, and complete any other duties deemed necessary by your supervisors. Qualifications WHO YOU ARE You are a very detailed person who brings enthusiasm to the accounting functions. You are always eager to learn and take the initiative to propose more efficient ways of running the day-to-day operations of Accounting. People come to you to check their work, and your conscientiousness is a great asset to those with whom you work. People always notice how organized you are, which ensures you always stay on track with tasks and projects with ease. You have a high school education and ideally an associate degree or higher in Accounting or related field. You may have worked in hotel accounting previously. You have superb organizational skills and attention to detail. You live to compile facts and figures and keep meticulous records. You use computers, various software and a calculator with ease. You are able to communicate effectively and courteously over the telephone and in person. You are able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or be able to life, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. |
