Course / Program Description This course covers the different applications of both differential and integral calculus to representative problems characteristic of the public and private economic sectors. Major topics covered in differential calculus include optimization, applications of the first and second derivatives that will find the optimized and inflection values of various functions, integral calculus, and procedures for finding either area under one curve or between two curves. Upon completing this course, students should be able to take first derivatives of functions to find minimum and maximum values and take second derivatives to find inflection points of a function. Job Description The Department of Health Sciences and Sciences at UCLA Extension offers a wide variety of certificate programs and courses including transfer-credit (XL), post baccalaureate credit-bearing (400-level), continuing education (CEU) credit, and non-credit-bearing general interest courses. UCLA Extension courses and certificate programs offer students the opportunity to learn from highly qualified practitioners who hold advanced degrees, are passionate about teaching and impart knowledge within their field of expertise. Applications to teach are accepted throughout the year in order to fill immediate program needs and to increase the depth of the instructor pool. An opening for an Instructor is available in the discipline of Calculus. This course will be offered in-person at the UCLA Extension location in Westwood. Course Schedule: January 21 - January 31, 2025. In-person meetings every business day in the morning. Total of 10 in-person sessions. Instructor Duties:
