Thursday 5:30am-4:30pm, Saturday & Sunday 5:30am-11:30am - Part Time - 23 hours Job Summary: As an integral part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team supporting individuals in treatment and recovery from opioid use disorder, the Dispensing Nurse ensures high quality, safe and efficient dispensing of medication to clients under the direction of medical practitioners. The Dispensing Nurse contributes to Bay Cove's mission by bringing a trauma-informed and non-judgmental approach to the treatment of individuals in recovery. This is a non-exempt position. Essential Functions of Position:
- Maintain practical nursing professional standards of care while working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary to provide treatment, including giving and receiving timely updates regarding client wellbeing.
- Carefully use, calibrate, and maintain automated dispensing system(s) and pumps.
- Prepare and dispense medication as ordered by medical practitioners in accordance with program policy and medical protocols in an accurate and timely manner.
- Document the dispensing of medication, nursing care provided, and client progress concisely, accurately, and completely, according to the established protocols.
- Ensure compliance with security standards for the distribution and storage of controlled substances as set forth in the Code of Federal regulations.
- Produce and maintain accurate accounting, records, and reports of medications as required by agency protocol, and State and Federal Regulations.
- Dedicate a minimum of 90% of regularly scheduled work hours to activities directly related to dispensing of medication with the remaining 10% dedicated to other activities as assigned.
- Use a trauma-responsive approach when collecting specimens for testing ordered by the medical practitioners and properly process, read, and document results per established protocols.
- Perform routine assignments independently, seek direction when indicated for unusual or non-routine duties, and advise appropriate personnel of situations requiring additional nursing expertise or technical follow-up.
- Respond professionally and appropriately in crisis situations.

Requirements for the position:
- Massachusetts registration and license in nursing.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Prefer 1 year nursing experience in the field of behavioral health or addiction treatment.
- Prior experience in harm reduction and trauma responsive patient care preferred.
- Prior experience working in an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) preferred.
- Stated willingness to receive training on and provide client education on recurrence prevention, harm reduction, and overdose prevention and intervention.
- Demonstrated professional writing, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of basic computer software and functions (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, and necessary specialty platforms such as eHana and SMART).
