Project Overview

Our client is designing, constructing, and commissioning the world's largest radioactive waste treatment plant for the U.S. Department of Energy at the Hanford Site in southeastern Washington State. The Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant will use vitrification technology to process and solidify 56 million gallons (210 million liters) of radioactive and chemical waste stored at the Hanford site, which is a byproduct of plutonium production during World War II and the Cold War era.

The project is the largest undertaking of its kind and one of DOE's most technically challenging cleanup projects. Its construction spans 65 acres (26 hectares) with four major nuclear facilities - Pretreatment, Low-Activity Waste Vitrification, High-Level Waste Vitrification and Analytical Laboratory - as well as operations and maintenance buildings, utilities, other support facilities.

This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Selected applicant needs to be able and willing to work weekends as needed.

Selected applicant needs to be able and willing to work night shift (5:30pm to 4:00am) and weekends as needed.

The Waste Treatment Completion Company (WTCC) is a limited liability corporation created by *** (BNI) and Amentum. WTCC is a subcontractor to BNI, the prime contractor, to deliver the construction, turnover, startup, and commissioning activities for the WTP project.

Position Summary

Under limited supervision, the Industrial Hygienist III is responsible for implementing and administering project industrial hygiene programs affecting employee, public safety and occupational health. Serves as a resource for line management to administer a proactive prevention program for occupational accidents and illnesses; under limited supervision performs moderately complex technical work in a wide range of industrial hygiene disciplines to achieve compliance with ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements; exhibits knowledge and applies advanced concepts, practices and procedures of industrial hygiene; develops, implements and maintains industrial hygiene programs, systems and procedures; monitors and prevents hazards and diseases that could be found in the work area; investigates accidents, injuries, and complaints concerning hazards in the workplace; recommends improvements in processes, design, procedures and operating equipment to minimize hazards; develops and conducts employee training, emergency preparedness and assures the quality of programs; provides regulatory interpretation and technical advice; may provide guidance for a team of ES&H specialists and/or support personnel. Responsibilities

* Support the Waste Treatment Plant Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work in order to protect self, others, and the environment.

* This job description is not intended to include every duty, task or instruction for which an employee is responsible. Other tasks may be assigned, based on business needs and the department supervisor's request.

* Provides technical assistance to office and field operations to ensure compliance with applicable international, Federal, State, and/or Company health and safety regulations.

* Conducts compliance evaluations of equipment, structures, and work in progress to ensure that regulatory environmental, safety and health standards of the Company and all applicable codes are followed.

* Recommends facilities and technological specifications to carry out programs that fulfill the organization's overall objectives.

* Prepares and reviews technical reports, correspondence and program compliance documents.

* Establishes and maintains permits as required.

* Meets applicable regulatory codes and standards where required.

* Develops and implements IH programs including IH processes, procedures and/or specifications.

* Develops IH training programs and conducts IH training meetings as necessary.

* Performs statistical analysis of IH data.

* Trains and assists subordinate industrial hygienists in sampling and assessment methodologies.

* Conducts and assists projects with sampling, monitoring, data interpretation and occupational health surveys to ensure compliance with established programs.

* Industrial Hygienists III are expected to pursue and/or complete an ABIH Certification in Industrial Hygiene (CIH).

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

* Bachelors of Science in Occupational e.g (Safety, Health ,Industrial Hygiene) from an accredited university or college with at least 6 years relevant experience.

* In lieu of a degree,12 years experience in a nuclear, heavy construction, chemical processing or petroleum refining environment.

* Must possess the right to work and remain in the US without sponsorship

Additional Qualifications

* ABIH Certification (CIH)

* Experience in a nuclear, heavy construction, chemical processing or petroleum refining environment.

* Experience in developing Industrial Hygiene programs and procedures.
