JOB SUMMARY
UTSW is seeking a Remote Community Outreach Specialist to join the Moncrief Cancer Center. The Remote Community Outreach Specialist will assist with the outreach endeavors for cancer screening programs, focusing primarily on colorectal cancer screening in East Texas. Reporting to the Program Manager of Public Education and Community Outreach, this position is a crucial part in advancing preventative healthcare initiatives and promoting early detection strategies within the community. Due to the area that this position supports, candidates need to reside in East Texas currently.
Preferred skills and experience include:
- Someone with 1-2 years of experience as this is an entry level position
- Experience in community health, community outreach, and community engagement
- Experience working with grants
- Ability to be patient-focused
- Comfortable with presenting / public speaking

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required
- Education
Bachelor's Degree in pre-health or public health related field. or
High School Diploma or equivalent. or
- Experience
4 years of related experience, preferably in a healthcare environment with High School Diploma.
JOB DUTIES
- Performs administrative functions to support departmental community outreach and engagement efforts. Duties include but not limited to procurement of materials and supplies, timekeeping, responsibility for meeting logistics, daily support of community inquires, and expense tracking.
- Maintains community data and contact information for catchment area. Responsible for development of tracking systems for community outreach as well as ongoing maintenance and metrics.
- Delivers informational/educational programs for patients, family members, and/or the public.
- Assists in building and maintaining collaborative working relationships with healthcare providers and other community partners.
- Supports and assists with patient recruitment for community outreach programs.
- Assists in development and/or promotion of various projects that further the mission of reducing health disparities via community outreach.
- Attends and represents organization at various health fairs and community events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
