The University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus, School of Dental Medicine welcomes applications from exceptional candidates for a full-time Division Chair of Endodontics (clinical teaching or tenure track) in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences and Surgical Dentistry. The primary responsibilities will include didactic and clinical instruction of students and residents, scholarly activities, and service. We are seeking an outstanding individual with excellent leadership skills to contribute to all aspects of our clinical practice, our educational programs, and the research impact of our institution. The Department of Diagnostic Sciences and Surgical Dentistry is home to four divisions - the Divisions of Periodontics, Endodontics, Diagnostic Sciences, and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The successful candidate will be an endodontist, outstanding clinician-educator with interest in, and commitment to clinical care, teaching, and scholarship. This position will report to the SDM Department of Diagnostic Sciences and Surgical Dentistry chair. Examples of Work Performed Teaching
- Provide evidence-based pre-clinical, clinical, and didactic instruction to dental students and residents.
- Supervise and guide students in clinical settings, including the school's pre-doctoral, emergency, and graduate clinics.
- Serve as course director or co-director.
- Assess student performance, offering constructive feedback and resources for improvement.
Clinical/Professional Practice
- Participate in direct patient care within the Dental Faculty Practice.
- Contribute to practice productivity, meeting or exceeding established performance goals.
Service
- Provide service to the program, school, and broader community.
- Mentor, coach, and advise students, residents, post-doctoral students, and junior faculty.
- Serve on school and campus committees.
- Engage in professional and community service activities at program, campus, local, and national levels.
Research/Scholarship
- Initiate and collaborate on research projects aligned with the SDM mission and vision.
- Mentor students, residents, and junior faculty in research and scholarly activities, leading to presentations, publications, grants, and awards.
- Participate in relevant professional development activities.
Program Leadership
- Lead clinical and didactic teaching efforts at both the pre-doctoral and graduate levels, ensuring the highest standards of endodontic education.
- Develop, plan, and implement endodontic courses, ensuring curriculum quality and relevance.
- Oversee division operations, including daily program administration, scheduling, and faculty assignments.
- Ensure the quality of subject matter and teaching within the division.
- Engage in strategic planning and participate in SDM administrative committees and councils.
- Support faculty research, professional development, and retention efforts.
- Innovate in curriculum development, contributing to the governance and strategic direction of the institution.
- Assist in implementing a patient-centered dental faculty practice that aligns with the school's educational and financial objectives.
- Foster a high-quality learning environment through effective faculty and staff engagement.
- Administer student performance assessments and review student grades.
- Participate in faculty review processes to maintain teaching excellence.
- Lead faculty recruitment, retention, and development initiatives.
- Guide and support faculty scholarly activities, including securing grants, presenting research, and engaging in continuing education.
- Lead change initiatives with a proactive, innovative, and visionary approach.

Qualifications:
|
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire. This is an open rank position and based on experience and qualifications as indicated below. Initial rank is based upon knowledge, achievement, and experience, and with the opportunity for academic promotion based upon demonstrated, ongoing excellence in education, research, clinical care, and community service. Applicants must have a clinical, scholarly, and/or academic record consistent with each SDM Faculty appointment level in the School of Dental Medicine. Assistant Professor:
- A DDS/DMD degree from a CODA accredited U.S. dental school or foreign equivalent
- Completion in CODA accredited Advanced Dental Residency Program
- Eligibility for a Colorado dental license
- At this rank, applicants will have 1 to 5 years of successful teaching experience and will be expected to teach and/or provide clinical care.
Associate Professor:
- A DDS/DMD degree from a CODA accredited U.S. dental school or foreign equivalent
- Completion in CODA accredited Advanced Dental Residency Program
- Eligibility for a Colorado dental license
- At this rank, applicants will have 5 to 10 years of teaching experience and/or providing clinical care with considerable demonstrated evidence of successful teaching and demonstrated leadership and service.
Professor:
- A DDS/DMD degree from a CODA accredited U.S. dental school or foreign equivalent
- Completion in CODA accredited Advanced Dental Residency Program
- Eligibility for a Colorado dental license
- At this rank, applicants will have over 10 years of outstanding accomplishments in teaching, and/or providing clinical care, a record of leadership, and a meritorious leadership and service record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Board certification or eligibility for certification by the American Board of Endodontics.
- Experience in education, including mentoring or precepting students.
- Experience in clinical practice.
- Experience in academic healthcare, with a commitment to collaboration in a multicultural environment.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Anticipated Pay Range:
|
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:
- Assistant Professor: $120,000 - $145,000
- Associate Professor: $145,000 - $175,000
- Professor: $175,000 - $225,000
*Practice Guarantee & Practice Earnings are not included in the base compensation. They are additive based on clinical activity. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting for this specific position.
