Position Summary

The Salvation Army Northern Division in Carlton County and Itasca County is committed to "Doing the Most Good" by providing holistic, person-centered services to individuals and families in need. These services include worship services and pastoral care; short- and long-term case management; food, clothing, utility, rent, and housing support; and connections to community partners.

The annual Red Kettle Campaign runs through the holiday season and raises essential funds for the organization's programs. During this time, thousands of bell ringers collect donations at red kettles placed on street corners and in front of stores.

The Kettle Coordinator is a seasonal position responsible for hiring and training bell ringers and kettle drivers, managing time sheets, and scheduling staff and volunteers. Additionally, the Coordinator oversees kettle placement, ensures the equipment functionality, handles data entry, manages route coverage, and responds to customer inquiries and service issues.

20 - 25 hours/week, $15/hour

Essential Functions (approximate time spent)



  • Hire and Orient Bell Ringers/Kettle Drivers (20%): Hire and onboard bell ringers/kettle drivers, providing necessary training and ensuring they understand their role and the organization's mission.
  • Manage Time Sheets for Paid Bell Ringers/Kettle Drivers (20%): Track and verify paid bell ringer and kettle driver hours to ensure accurate timekeeping and timely payroll processing.
  • Share Daily Schedules and Resolve Scheduling Issues (20%): Distribute daily schedules, handle conflicts, and adjust staffing to cover all kettle locations.
  • Manage Kettle Placement and Pickup; Visit Locations (20%): Oversee kettle logistics, visit sites to thank volunteers, and ensure equipment functions correctly.
  • Data Entry and Tracking Statistics (10%): Enter and update data on collections and bell ringer hours, assist with reports, and track performance.
  • Assist with Route Coverage (10%): Provide on-the-ground support by covering shifts or routes to ensure smooth operations as needed.



Education and Experience



  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must pass background checks, possess a valid driver's license, and meet MVR requirements.


Competencies



  • Flexible interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient with PC, Microsoft Office, databases, and standard office equipment.
  • Works with integrity, valuing honesty and diligence.



Working Conditions



  • Moderate physical work, must be able to drive, sit, stand, lift, bend, twist, and reach.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds required.
  • Professional environment; not eligible for a remote-friendly work environment.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with colleagues and donors.
  • Work hours include days and evenings Mondays through Saturdays.



Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise paid bell ringers/kettle drivers and provide support and guidance to volunteer bell ringers.

Driving/Travel Requirements

Drive agency vehicles locally to support the mission.
