Job Objective: Oversee the operation of the Christmas Kettle campaign

Essential Functions:

Administrative



  • Provide administrative support to Corps Officers for Red Kettle Campaign
  • Interviews, recruits, screens and selects bell ringing staff and volunteers ensuring all sites are covered effectively
  • Maintain database - Register-To-Ring - for recruitment of volunteers, locations of kettle sites, daily driver's routes and statistical reports for productivity
  • Plans, schedules and assigns work of paid employees/staff
  • Verify hours worked by kettle workers and sign off on
  • Coordinate communications between volunteers, staff and kettle drivers
  • Utilize office equipment including, but not limited to, computer, copier, and money counting machines
  • Other duties as assigned


Maintenance and Safety



  • Building areas are kept clean and maintained that are designated for meetings
  • Identify and implement proper training tools for instruction in bell ringing etiquette and Salvation Army protocol to all volunteers and staff
  • Conduct pre and post season inventory on all kettle equipment including, but not limited to, kettles/stands/signs, bells, bell ringer aprons, and assigned vehicles. This includes gas cards and mileage reports
  • Maintain equipment utilized during bell ringing season including, but not limited to, kettles/stands/signs, bells, bell ringer aprons, and assigned vehicles. This includes gas cards and mileage reports


Finance



  • Inventory is accounted for at the beginning and ending of season. Report any broken equipment for replacement by the next season
  • Approval of expenses is required by Corps Officer prior to purchase
  • Create financial reports of all kettles sites through Register-To-Ring including locations, days and dollars raised. Report to Supervisor on a daily basis or as requested
  • Complete online Christmas report as requested by DHQ and Corps Officers
  • Responsible for financial integrity of the kettles


Employees and Volunteers



  • Employee records are kept confidential and processed through the DHQ HR Department with approval by Corps Officer before submission
  • Volunteer records are maintained on Register to Ring website
  • Communicate through Eblasts or emails for recruitment of volunteer needs for the organization
  • Research and attend at least two local career and/or volunteer fairs for bell ringer recruitment
  • Maintain contact with staff and volunteers; answers questions, concerns or problems
  • Generate enthusiasm by telling the story of The Salvation Army and the impact their participation has on the Christmas Red Kettle Campaign
  • Support the mission of The Salvation Army
  • Additional duties as requested by Corps Officers necessary to reach the kettle goals


Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; some post-secondary education preferred

Experience: Experience in management or fund raising preferred

Certifications/Licenses: Valid driver's license issued by state of residence

Skills/Abilities:



  • Must have proficient computer skills
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Uses diplomacy and good judgment.
  • Ability to use initiative and be a self-starter
  • Ability to learn and utilize campaign software
  • Ability to perform in fast paced environment

Supervisory Responsibility: This position does have authority to assign and check work of other employees. This position may recommend employment status changes to a supervisor, but not make disciplinary decisions and will not formally evaluate performance of other employees.

Physical Requirements: Include speaking, hearing and vision ability; manual dexterity; bending, squatting and walking; lifting, pulling and pushing materials up to 50 pounds; sitting up to 3 hours per; standing and walking to hours 2 per day; ability to drive at night. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of this job.

Travel: local, in-town travel

Driving: Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business. Must be able to drive after dark.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a typical office environment and in the community; may require some weekend and evening work
