Responsibilities:

  • Ensures implementation of center policies consistently aligns with health center goals.
  • Builds positive relationships, inspires others to perform at a higher level, prepares career development plans and retains an accountable workforce.
  • Ensures a continuing program of formal and informal education for Medical Assistant/Nursing Staff.
  • Conducts monthly nursing in-services as needed.
  • Fully versed in the functions, services, and positions of FHCSD departments and programs that require nursing support.
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities and ensures appropriate Lean tools (i.e., 5S, A3) are deployed and results are evaluated and/or measured.
  • Provides on-site support for Nursing/Medical Assistant staff with changes in work practices, new initiatives, policy changes, etc.
  • Provides support for orientation of new Nurses and Medical Assistants
  • Provides leadership and supervision to all RN/ LVN Charge Nurses in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
  • Collaborates with clinic operations in expanding services to increase patient access to care during the pandemic and beyond.
  • Lead and ensure a continuing program of formal and informal education for Medical Assistant and Nursing staff.
  • Design and evaluate simulation-based clinical settings in assessing application of knowledge and techniques related to patient care.
  • Function in the role of clinical tutor in assessing skills related to patient care.
  • Assess components of clinical knowledge and communication techniques in evaluating skill level of staff.
  • Develop scenarios that examine nursing and medical assistant competencies through direct observation of developed procedures, skill set, and evaluation tools.
  • Develop clinical evaluation exercises in assessing competencies.
  • Participate with Nursing Team, competency development to ensure clinical orientation process is consistent across FHCSD.
  • Recognize and apply teachable moments resulting in application of effective patient care.
  • Conduct monthly nursing in-services as needed.
  • Represent FHCSD at meetings as requested by CEO and/or DON when necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • RN/BSN from recognized program required. MSN preferred.
  • High School Graduate (or GED equivalent) required.
  • California State Board RN License required.
  • Current American Heart Association healthcare provider CPR (BLS), or Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support, or Advance Resuscitation Training required.
  • Ability and means to travel as needed in a timely manner within San Diego County, to locations that may have limited access to public transportation; proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required. DRIVER REQUIREMENTS: Licensed for a minimum of 3 years; No more than 2 violations and/or accidents within 3 years; No vehicle related suspensions/reinstatements; No DUI, reckless or felony Driving within 7 years.
  • Minimum 3 years of teaching experience as an RN in hospital setting or at an educational institution required
  • Minimum 3 years of acute care hospital experience or ambulatory care setting preferred.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge and ability to perform the essential job duties, and which meets any required state or federal certification requirements.
  • Bilingual a plus

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base range for this position, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.

If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
