Overview

The Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (Cuyahoga DD) is seeking several Early Intervention Speech Language Pathologists to assess communication skills of children birth to three years old with developmental disabilities in order to determine the need for and provision of services and supports. One of the available assignments is to work as a Floater, which is to help cover increases in referrals and cases needing coverage from temporary leaves of absence, etc. The nature of work for all SLPs will include, but is not limited to the following:

    Completion of screening and/or assessment of speech, language, and communication, feeding and oral motor skills, and augmentative/alternative communication; refer for and/or coordinate hearing screenings and assessments.
  • Provide Speech Language Therapy services in a teaming approach for children birth to three years old based on adult coaching in which one member is a primary service provider and receives supports from other team members.
  • Coordinate, develop, or assist in developing, communication programs and provide SLP services including consultation, instruction, support services and direct intervention.
  • Provide speech-language services per written programs, monitor and document speech-language services according to established procedures and submit information as requested by supervisor.
  • Participate in inter/intra-agency committees, projects, or teams and deliver in-service training as requested or approved by supervisor.
  • Attend Individual Plan meetings and/or make recommendations for programming to team, write objectives/outcomes, discuss methods of implementation, and identify materials to be used and implement treatment or train others.
  • Maintain compliance with appropriate federal and state regulations, professional standards and Board policy including DODD regulations and standards set by the Ohio Board of Speech Pathology and Audiology.
  • Educate and counsel individuals, families, caregivers, co-workers, managers and advocates for individuals to promote effective communication.
  • Provide in-services at Cuyahoga DD sites and/or other community settings.

Mentor: All therapists, whether a new grad or experienced, are given a mentor for the first year so that they do not feel they are tossed to those proverbial wolves. Mentorship is a great asset for our new hires.

** SALARY : It is the Cuyahoga DD's intent to pay a salary that is reasonable and competitive based on the market rate for the position as well as the language of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Because we are also committed to our current employees, we must consider internal equity when making salary offers. The contract caps our starting salary for new hires at $68,250.00 however, the total comp package that includes all of the above benefits is hard to beat!

AVAILABLE ASSIGNMENT(s): Although all vacancies are Early Intervention, we have an eastside SLP opening based in Highland Hills, Ohio; a westside opening based in Parma, Ohio; and an eastside Floater assignment based in Highland Hills, Ohio.

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in SpeechLanguage Pathology.
  • License in SpeechLanguage Pathology from the State of Ohio.
  • Must possess the Certificate of Clinical Competence.
  • Specific training and experience with individuals who have DD.
  • Hold a valid driver's license and maintain an insurable driving record under the Cuyahoga DD's auto insurance policy and Board policies.
