Job Description

Vanir is seeking a Project Director with proven leadership quality and strong communication skill who can build on our continued success in the transportation sector. Reports to Senior Executive Director/Transportation. At Vanir we understand the need for modern, efficient, and reliable infrastructure. Vanir provides support services for highways, roadways, airports, railways and ports. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The Project Director duties include both Business Development and Project Delivery. The Project Director assists in identifying and pursuing transportation projects in California. The Project Director also provides the planning, coordination, and direction for project management activities to ensure they meet owner needs, specifications, cost, and schedule, from initial project identification through construction closeout. May supervise office/field administrative staff, project/field engineers, assistant project/construction managers, and other assigned staff. This position will report to Vanir's Senior Executive Director/Transportation Lead.

Business Development:

    Attends industry-related associations, events, networking opportunities and collaborations.
  • Serves as primary contact and liaison for potential clients, owners, and principal partner entities for the marketing, business development, and contracts to Vanir Construction Management
  • Assists in leading and directing strategy, operation, and meetings for Area or Company designated significant or strategic pursuits. Activities include preparing deliverables, facilitation, and direction.
  • Interacts regularly with internal and external operations, marketing and business development staff on proposal development, statement of qualifications, and marketing collateral

Project Delivery:

  • Employee development, including coaching, mentoring, supervisory and training techniques
  • Supervise project team and ensures quality services consistent with Vanir procedures, client goals, and contract responsibilities on areas of safety, performance, and project staff
  • Primary contact and liaison for owner and principle partner entities for the contract, design, systems, procedures and related deliverables
  • Develops project specific procedures and documentation, and may consult with Owner on design and construction contracts and related A/E systems for the project
  • Functional knowledge of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure compliance with construction/project requirements
  • Obtains, maintains, and manages data, information, communications, and approvals required by project and company requirements between owner, architects, engineers, and other project-related entities
  • Represents owner, project and related parties in public forums and meetings
  • Manages project controls, cost, and performance activities and procedures, project logistics, organization, systems and project closeout
  • Leads in project meetings to include documentation, administration, and tracking of relevant information and statuses
  • Manages bid phase services, as may be required by the client
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure program and project success
  • Ensure contractor, architect, and engineer will adhere to contractual requirements on areas of safety, performance, project staff, and equipment

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture is required
  • Ideal candidates will possess 15+ years of experience providing project / program management services on transportation projects, with at least 5 years of business development experience
  • Experience in mass transit or aviation projects is required
  • Experience in major roadway and bridge projects is desired
  • Experience in managing the full construction of transportation construction project life-cycle: including pre-construction, design phases, oversight of constructability reviews, and oversight of field quality observations is required
  • Advanced knowledge and application of master planning, A/E solicitation, project development, design-phase management, construction estimating, cost, project controls/scheduling, documentation, engineering/construction principles, contracts and delivery methods are required
  • Thorough understanding of contracts, documents, drawings, and specifications and applied experience in the areas of project accounting, cost, administrative, and personnel interaction in professional settings are required
  • California Professional Engineer License is required. Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Project Management Professional (PMP), or Design-Build Professionals (DBIA) is preferred

Offered rate of compensation will be based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including education, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The Salary range for this position is $180,000-$215,000.
