PURPOSE/SCOPE:



  • Responsible for providing test system architecture design and system level test development to theTest Engineering Department focusing on firmware testing.Provide technical coaching and mentorship to all members of the Test Department based on need.
  • ThePrincipal Test Engineer will lead the most challenging technical developments (specific testing and measurement methods, test process development and deployment, etc.). Generally this individual will have extensive expertise in one or more specific technical areas as well as deep knowledge and experience in testing and evaluation methodologies in general.



GENERAL RESPONISIBILITIES:



  • Tech lead on technical roadmap, system level design and development of the test infrastructure for controller firmware testing. Provide test system solutions including hardware, software, and the process to the testing of firmware of controllers.
  • Test systems architect design. Variants of test systems can be applied to other implementations such as functional, endurance, end of line, or other engineering testing.
  • Good knowledge and experience of controller firmware testing methods. Such as HIL, SiL, simulation, white box testing, etc.
  • Working in an matrix engineering environment, collaborate closely with other engineering teams.
  • Drive cultural adoption of Accelerated Reliability Test Strategies across Tennant Organization through education, coaching, and application of principles
  • Refine reliability test strategies to better predict real-world product performance; guiding product designers toward optimal robustness-to-cost ratios and maximizing the value to Tennant Customers
  • Drive development of standardized test and reporting processes ensuring site-to-site repeatability of test processes, results, and reporting formats for the Global Test team
  • Coach Global Test Engineering on the creation and execution of effective DVP&R's that minimize warrantee claims for Tennant Customers and drive improved customer satisfaction
  • Provide primary technical knowledge in one or more of the following disciplines:

    • Design and execute the complex testing programs to quantify the performance and reliability of critical and/or new technologies and designs
    • Accelerated testing of mechanical and electrical systems and machines
    • Sound and vibration testing
    • Characterization of cleaning performance
    • Statistical methods
    • Measurement systems analysis
    • Design of experiments
    • Software and embedded systems testing
    • Reliability and endurance testing, HALT, HASS, etc.


  • Author new testing standards in support of the complex testing needs
  • Represent Tennant on external test standard committees
  • Identify test system capability opportunities and drive capital projects to address



REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:



  • Bachelor's of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution; MS is strongly desired.
  • 7~10 years of experience with demonstrated success delivering excellent test solutions on-time.
  • Programming experience with C# orVB.NET.
  • Experienced in LEAN, Six Sigma, and/or DFSS are highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise with statistical analysis tools, such as miniTAB, JMP, utilizing data to support decision making and problem identification processes.
  • Experience in the use of reliability tools such as DFMEA, FTA, HALT.
  • Ability to interpret and create technical standards.

  • Ability to manage and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Possessing exceptional organization and communication skills including ability to prepare clear and concise technical and status reports.
  • Able to travel (limited) domestically and internationally.
