Position Summary

UNM-Valencia is accepting applications for the position of Unit
Administrator I for Academic Affairs. This position oversees the day-to-day operations of the
Academic Affairs Office. The position works closely with the Dean of
Instruction and oversees one non-exempt staff member and one student employee.
This position is responsible for many critical aspects of the office,
including: preparing faculty contracts, SACs, and overload documents;
overseeing the formation of the course schedule for two semesters plus summer
term; inputting and monitoring the course schedule in the Banner student
information system; maintaining faculty files; assisting with new faculty on-boarding; updating the faculty syllabi website; overseeing the fiscal
activities of the office; training student employees; and overseeing daily
operations of the office.

Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, the
University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of the
University of New Mexico which functions as a community college in the region
and is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis on teaching
excellence, Valencia Campus offers academic transfer programs, career and
technical programs, Adult Basic Education, and Dual Credit High School/College
courses to Valencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty and staff serve a student
body of over 2,000 students per semester.

Conditions of Employment
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.


Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 2 years of experience managing at least one of the following functional areas: fiscal services, administration and/or human resources AND 1 year of additional experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working in a college/university academic office
  • Experience working with a student information system such as Banner
  • High level of skill with Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel
  • More than one year experience working with budgets
  • English/Spanish Bilingual
