Your Role on the Team

Performs and/or assists with various procedures, following infection control procedures. Accurately takes and records vital signs, including temperature, pulse, weight, respiratory rate, and blood pressure and documents appropriately. Prepares patients for exams or procedures. Collects or assists with specimen collection. Completes injections and other tests as directed. Receives and records lab and other test results and when appropriate relays results to MD and/or Patient. Ensures an effective and efficient flow of patients. Effectively prepares patient medical records for clinic visits.

Required:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients from diverse background
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
  • Ability to work well in a constantly changing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
  • Medical Assistant Diploma or Certificate of Competency
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience * Demonstrated experience working in a hospital or medical office setting.

Preferred:

  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish and/or Vietnamese.
  • Demonstrated experience working in registration, scheduling and/or authorization process
  • Demonstrated knowledge of insurance programs and/or government programs
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in an ambulatory care setting
  • Experience with EPIC
