Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Mid-Level Electrician to provide full life cycle technical support for all types of combatant craft, boats, watercraft, amphibious vessels and vehicles, Patrol Coastal Class ships, specialty craft and vessels, life rafts, inflatable craft, unmanned vessels and vehicles, and associated craft and mission systems for the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division's Combatant Craft Division.

JOB SUMMARY

The Mid-Level Electrician repairs, tests, and maintains electrical equipment, machinery, and systems such as generators, alternators, motors, and intercommunication systems. Responsibilities include making inspection rounds and maintaining records and schedules of tasks and inspections. This role also supports watercraft repair and modernization efforts through the installation and upkeep of electrical equipment, along with power generation, transmission, and storage systems.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Experience: Three (3) to seven (7) years of experience as an electrician, including the repair of electrical equipment and power generation, transmission, and storage systems

    • Experience may be acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and hands-on work

  • Education: High school diploma, GED equivalent, or graduation from a trade/industrial school (required)

  • Clearance: Must possess an active Secret Clearance

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Related military experience

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Disassemble electrical systems and equipment to diagnose sources of malfunction

  • Dismantle or partially dismantle electrical and electronic systems to perform repairs, primarily using hand tools

  • Repair or replace broken or defective parts using stock items, request production of replacement parts, or coordinate with external shops for major repairs

  • Draft written specifications for major repairs or for the fabrication of parts by electrical shops

  • Reassemble electrical systems and perform all necessary adjustments to ensure proper operation
