We support customers with Centers of Excellence in Washington DC and Huntsville, AL with an additional 36+ locations across the U.S. Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer Technician to provide full life cycle technical support for all types of combatant craft, boats, watercraft, amphibious vessels and vehicles, Patrol Coastal Class ships, specialty craft and vessels, life rafts, inflatable craft, unmanned vessels and vehicles, and associated craft and mission systems for the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division's Combatant Craft Division. JOB DETAILS LOCATION: Virginia Beach, VA JOB STATUS: FT TRAVEL: 0% JOB SUMMARY The Senior Electrical Engineer Technician will perform assignments that are not fully standardized or prescribed, selecting or adapting standard procedures or equipment using applicable precedents. The technician will receive initial instructions, equipment requirements, and guidance from the supervisor or engineer as needed. For recurring tasks, the technician will work independently. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy and conformity with instructions. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS Experience: Seven (7) years of full-time professional experience as an Electrical Engineer Technician or Electronics Engineer Technician, with specific experience in the following: Electrical and electronic equipment and systems, including but not limited to: Power generation, conversion, and distribution systems Illumination systems Interior and exterior communications systems Navigation systems Control systems Networks Other electrical and electronic systems Education: High school diploma, related military experience, trade/industrial school graduate, or GED equivalent (required) Clearance: Must possess a current Secret Clearance DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS Advanced training in shipboard electronics systems Ability to work independently and as part of a team under project deadlines. Experience supporting test and evaluation of maritime electrical and electronic systems.
