Summary

The Supervisor, Transmission Technical Services is responsible for providing direction and oversight to the team supporting the projects and technology supporting the Energy Control Center (ECC). Ensures activities are properly coordinated for optimum system reliability, availability, efficiency, and effectiveness. Establishes priorities for team members or project completion. Communicates company ECC and Energy Imbalance Market (EIM) policy information and requirements to staff and ensures operational decisions comply with policy.

Minimum Requirements

- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, or related technical field plus five (5) years experience with transmission operations, maintenance, or related transmission operations experience.

- In lieu of a Bachelors degree, combination of college coursework and experience with transmission operations, maintenance, or related transmission operations experience and/or related electric utility experience totaling nine (9) years.

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications: Prior leadership experience preferred. In depth knowledge of the Open Access Transmission Tariff (OATT), Open Access Same Time Information System (OASIS), North American Electric Reliability (NERC) Reliability Standards, Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC) Regional Reliability Standards, North American Energy Standards Board (NAESB) Business Protocols and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Standards of Conduct. Must possess ability to implement strategic direction related to all aspects of transmission operations and energy, ancillary and transmission market activities.

Proficient transmission operations knowledge, effective supervisory skills, project leadership and communication skills.

Major Accountabilities

1) Responsible for the direction and oversight of the team supporting the projects and technology used supporting the operations of the Energy Control Center (ECC).

2) Build relationships by working across disciplines with Operations, Operations Support, Resource Management, Engineering, Contracts, Training, Compliance and IT to ensure appropriate technical support, project knowledge, tools and actions are being provided to support transmission reliability and system stability.

3) Facilitate in the sale of transmission capacity to transmission customers and neighboring entities as well as support the interconnection new facilities and transmission elements to support reliable grid operations.

4) Select and develop a high performing team through effective coaching, performance feedback, recognition, training, and developmental opportunities.

5) Provide input to the ECC Advisors in the development and design of training for the ECC Operators in all areas of system operations and review training programs to ensure they provide the appropriate operational and regulatory framework and deliver the desired skill assessments and knowledge gap evaluations.

6) Responsible for coordinating the resolution of operational or technical issues within ECC Operations.

7) Monitors expenditures of unit or area of responsibility ensuring prudent use of company money and resources.

Hybrid Role:

Employees in hybrid roles work both in their home offices (virtually) and alongside their colleagues (in person).

In order for employees to build strong relationships and to promote meaningful in-person interactions, hybrid employees are expected to work about 40% of their time in-person at an APS or other (non-home office) location.

*Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).

*Working from a home office requires adequate technology and an appropriate ergonomic set up.
