Job Summary

This position requires flexibility and rotation to all other UCSF sites which includes: SF Parnassus (505 Parnassus), SF ACC (400 Parnassus), SF Bayfront, San Mateo, Redwood Shores, Montgomery/Golden Gate (1725 Montgomery St) and the Orthopedic Institute (1500 Owens St).

Under the direction of technical supervisor, the ARRT certified, California-licensed technologist performs radiologic procedures in assigned areas at a safe and technical level not requiring constant supervision. Tech will perform safe imaging procedures on all emergent, inpatient and outpatient age-specific populations. Diagnostic procedures include, but are not limited to, Basic radiographic exams using fixed and portable imaging equipment in various settings such as Outpatient/Inpatient, OR/Hybrid, ER, fluoro and Endoscopy. In addition, competency in Advanced procedures such as arthograms, myelograms, kyphoplasty, XLIFS, ESWL, ERCP's, HSG's, PNL's, Scoliosis imaging and O-Ring and OR Vascular procedures must be maintained on an annual basis.

Performs various radiographic exams and processes images on various archival systems. Professionally accountable for submitting high-quality images to PACS. Participates in performance improvement activities in the department. Demonstrates excellent customer service to patients. Correctly identifies patients for the procedures performed and their respective images. Follows Infection Control policies, radiation policies and good body mechanics. Maintains appropriate continuing education credits. Complies with all Medical Center and Department policies and procedures. Requires ARRT, CRT and California fluoroscopy license.

New hires must not perform any radiology procedures until they receive their license (CRT) from the State of California. New hires may begin their orientation to the department, observe procedures and assist during this time period, which is not to exceed 6 months. New hires must receive their California fluoroscopy license within the first 6 months of employment or probationary period. Depending on the department needs, this position may require you to take weekday, weekend or holiday call.

Per diem employees must work at least an average of four shifts per month to maintain equipment and procedure competencies and per diem eligibility.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $84.47 - $84.47 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications


  • ARRT Licensure or ARRT-approved equivalent.
  • CRT Licensure
  • BLS certification
  • Fluoroscopy certification
  • Graduate of a JCERT accredited radiology technology training program.
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in practicing modality in an acute care setting.
  • Flexibility in scheduling, with the ability to rotate shifts and coverage for weekends and holidays.
  • Must be willing to assist at any of the UCSF Medical Center Locations

Preferred Qualifications


  • Prefer recent work experience in an acute care setting

License/Certification


  • Requires ARRT Licensure or ARRT-approved equivalent
