What to Expect

Tesla is looking for a highly motivated Controls Engineer to integrate, commission, and sustainControls and Electrical systems within our Fremont Factory Paint Shop.Through a detailed understanding of the factory objectives and extensive collaboration with internal and external teams, you will help optimize our manufacturing process.Hands-on support on the shop floor is expected as the need arises.


What You'll Do
  • Overall responsibility for all controls related activities in the shop, leading and assisting production in all controls related topics and issues
  • Designing, selecting, managing, programming, and commissioning of automation equipment
  • Development, optimization, and improvement of Human Machine Interfaces, SCADA systems, and MES interfaces
  • Implementing and managing continuous process optimization including the addition of advanced and conventional technologies to improve quality and productivity
  • Develop & maintain proper documentation of all electrical equipment and associated procedures, making updates as required by modifications
  • Identify weak areas of the production systems using root cause analysis and first principles thinking, and implement effective countermeasures using all available means
  • Implement and maintain quality control methods including pokeyokes, data tracking systems, part recognition and problem reporting
  • Creation and improvements of equipment safety standards, and the implementation of those standards into the manufacturing equipment, including periodic checks and qualification inspections
  • Understand and program using several different programming styles including ladder logic and structured text

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Proven project management experience
  • 3+ years of professional controls engineering and SCADA development experience
  • 3+ years of advanced PLC programming knowledge on Allen Bradley, Siemens or equivalent PLCs in a professional environment
  • HMI programming experience - AB Factory talk, Wonderware or equivalent
  • Robotic programming skills desired
  • Solid communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment as well as independently
  • Proficient in CAD working with electrical diagrams and prints
  • Flexibility in working weekends and night shift as required

    Expected Compensation
    $84,000 - $180,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
