Equitable Communications Manager

Habitat for Humanity International seeks an Equitable Communications Manager to provide strategic
communications counsel and planning, narrative creation, storytelling and messaging support
for the ongoing implementation of Habitat's global diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy and initiatives, in alignment with
overarching organizational and brand strategies.

Reporting to the Director, Program Communications with cross-functional reporting to the Global DEI Officer,
the Equitable Communications Manager will work collaboratively with Global Communications senior leaders,
the DEI team, and teams including organizational communications, employee communications, public &
media relations, regional communications in different parts of the world, content strategy and creative. The
position also partners with colleagues in U.S. Office, Knowledge Management, regional area offices, senior
leadership and within various teams across the Habitat network.

The Equitable Communications Manager will play an important role in advancing Habitat's programs and
services, identifying and acting on opportunities to integrate equity and inclusion-related communication
efforts across the Habitat network, both internally and externally. They will serve as a convener and project
manager efforts across Habitat teams to coordinate and drive consistent use of terminology and equitable
storytelling strategies and best practices and develop content highlighting DEI successes and learning
opportunities internally to HFHI staff and externally to various audiences
. Initiatives and programs to highlight
include Building the Beloved Community, Courageous Community Conversations, gender equity work, and
people-centered design, among others, as well as region/country-specific focus areas such as indigenous
rights and the nuanced approaches to diversity and faith in each of the 70+ countries in which Habitat
operates.

*Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

**Embedding with DEI team to develop a deep understanding of Habitat's strategic approach (25%)

**Collaborating closely with Global Communications colleagues, the DEI team, and others on messaging and content plans that clearly communicate Habitat's work, history, culture and DEI efforts to various internal and external key audiences, writing clearly and compellingly for both technical and more general audiences (25%)

**Collaborating with Global Communications colleagues around the world to develop communications strategies, plans, tools and assets for the ongoing implementation of the organization's DEI strategy and initiatives (25%)

**Helping prepare Habitat leadership, fundraisers, advocates, and other key stakeholders with messaging and communications tools for specific opportunities, technical and general events and other key moments (10%)

**Convening and upskilling the Habitat network to drive consistency of equitable storytelling strategies (10%)

**Managing the development and updating of DEI materials, including quarterly and year-end reports, and DEI dashboards, learning paths and resources on employee- and network-facing platforms, in partnership with Knowledge Management and DEI teams (5%).

**Performing other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum:
* Education: Bachelor's degree in communications or related field
* 5-7 years of experience in communications, journalism, public relations or marketing.
* Proven experience in equitable and inclusive communications.
* Lived or professional experience working on a global team and/or within an INGO or company with multicultural, global audiences.
* Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural competencies and organizational and project management skills that demonstrate an ability to successfully collaborate with diverse global audiences and stakeholders.
* Excellent writing, speaking, editing and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics and demonstrate a flexible, conversational tone.
* Passionate about the opportunity to create communications approaches that help weave an organization's DEI strategies into its work and culture.
* High level of attention to detail and accuracy and highly organized, with strong time management skills.
* Respect for a diversity of opinions and styles.
* Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word and PowerPoint, as well as common layout and design software associated with print and digital communication.
* Ability to write, edit, evaluate and curate compelling content through to completion while meeting brand, marketing and messaging needs.

Preferred - in addition to minimum:
* Understanding of organizational change management practice and considerations. * Experience with fundraising organizations.
* Proven ability to influence across various and diverse global audiences and levels. * Experience with social media, web-based and digital communication.
* Fluency in Spanish or a language in addition to English.

For work locations in the US, the target hiring range for this position is $62,560 - $73,600 per year.

The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including location, internal equity and the candidate's qualifications and professional experience. HFHI offers a competitive, comprehensive benefits package that varies by country and typically includes vacation leave, sick leave, personal days, health insurance options, retirement plan contributions and life insurance.
