The English department at GSU confers BA, MA and PhD degrees and offers four areas of specialization - creative writing, literary studies, pre-education, and rhetoric and composition . The rhetoric and composition division covers history of rhetoric, history of literacy, technical and professional writing, comparative rhetorics, and rhetoric of digital media.

The English department at Georgia State University invites applications for a full time tenure-track faculty position (2/2 teaching load) starting August 2025. The successful applicant will have an interest in writing program administration and any of the following: rhetoric of social media, writing in non-academic settings, technical writing, comparative rhetorics, rhetoric and under-represented peoples.
