Position description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The UCLA Master of Quantitative Economics program (MQE) invites applications for Lecturers with domain expertise in machine learning emphasizing applications to the fields of economics and finance for the 2024-2025 academic year. A reasonable estimate for this position is $68,247- $192,040.

The instructor will develop and teach this applied Machine Learning course within the Master of Quantitative Economics program.

Responsibilities of the position will include developing the syllabus and course; delivering lectures and applied lessons; holding regularly scheduled weekly office hours; being responsive and helpful to students; developing and grading assignments and providing guidance to students involved in co-curricular applied projects.

Applicants are expected to have:

* Master's degree or higher in economics, data analytics, statistics, computer science, electrical engineering or equivalent

* Experience applying a variety of machine learning techniques in industry, such as supervised and unsupervised learning, regression, classification, clustering, and deep learning. Applications in economics and finance are a strong plus

* Excellent verbal communication skills, capable of leading lectures of 75+ students

* Advanced knowledge of the application of technical or mathematical concepts to professional settings
