Job Overview:
The Rehabilitation Technician assists in front desk operations, assists rehab professionals in the care of patients/ residents, manages inventory, assists in the management of safety and emergency procedures, assists in educational efforts of patients and staff, assists with the Joint Institute.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of all required orientation programs
Preferred:
- Certified Nursing Assistant
Scheduling Requirements:

- 40 hours per week
Essential Functions:
- Assists in front desk operations. Assists with accurate and appropriate scheduling for PT and OT. Greets and welcomes patients and families. Schedules referrals for OT and PT outpatients in a hospital setting. Organizes and manages incoming physician orders for all disciplines, using TDS and e-TherapiX. Answers phones, screens, prioritizes and directs inquiries. Assists in timely communication of information to all staff. Perform telephone and computer tasks to support department workflow. Performs front desk activities in outpatient PT when needed.
- Assists in the management of safety and emergency procedures. Performs duties as delegated during emergencies as directed. Assures a clean, safe environment utilizing appropriate hospital disinfectants. Reports any hazardous or potentially hazardous situations to manager. Performs hazard surveillance monthly and daily routine checks in department. Logs appropriately and follows up on any needs. Monitors department for compliance with standards established by internal and external standards. Completes follow up on environmental issues ensuring a safe environment. Follows hospital policy on disposal of wastes and sharps. Assures that department and equipment is secure
- Assists rehab professionals in the care of patients/ residents. Assures that the environment is neat, clean and ready for patient care. Assists with management of patient flow. Assures patients and caregivers are given adequate information regarding their rehab schedule. Assists with patient and resident care as directed by therapists within regulatory standards. Takes vital signs as directed by therapist
- Assists with Joint Institute. Coordinates schedule with nursing and volunteers. Assists with moving patients to and from group room. Assists with set up of room and break down of room. Acts as a resource for coaches and patients. Coordinates lunch activities, Coordinates activities of volunteers. Distributes Daily Newsletters. Assists therapists with group activities and patient needs
- Manages inventory. Assures adequate supplies for office and clinical operations. Accurately orders and follows up on orders. Manages inventory flow through People Soft program and order supplies. Monitors delivery of items and manages returns. Assures just-in-time levels of inventory minimizing waste and unnecessary expense. Monitors inventory expirations and assures supplies are within timeframes for expirations
- Assists in educational efforts. Educates patients and families. Identifies need for further education and reports to professional staff. Assists in orientation of new staff. Mentors students from OCC
- Performs other duties as assigned
