About the Role As an Engineering Manager at our Headquarters facility in St. Louis, Missouri, you will lead the Global Product Compliance team that develops and maintains the systems that assure product safety and product environmental compliance of Watlow's products. Through both dedicated personnel and localized Subject Matter Experts, this team ensures the systems, processes and procedures are in place to not only comply with required standards and regulations, but also guide the success of Watlow's future. Your Key Responsibilities
- Functional Leadership. Provide supervision, oversight and development of product compliance systems within the enterprise (inclusive of direct personnel, 3rd party partners, extended resources, processes, procedures and tools). Prepare justifications based on cost/benefit analysis. Manage the functional Product Compliance budget. Perform resource planning, coaching and mentorship to various disciplines to ensure the systems are in place to properly manage Watlow's Global Product Compliance needs. Oversee the Watlow Compliance System to ensure customer needs are being met.
- Program Management. Monitor global activity for emerging trends in Product Compliance. Lead and/or oversee major program initiatives to ensure systems and processes are in place to accommodate these emerging trends for both new and existing products.
- Continuous Improvement of Product Compliance Systems. Build a culture of continuous improvement within the Global Product Compliance Systems. Optimize processes and tools to ensure product compliance aspects of both new and existing products are managed. Identify and drive improvements to reduce waste and enhance Watlow's overall compliance.
- Communication, Coordination and Team Building. Build and deploy processes and systems within the business, using compliance and other resources, to ensure internal and external customer needs are met (i.e. be a change agent). Manage an operating system that links both dedicated and non-dedicated compliance resources to foster a team oriented culture. Work with, and communicate with, Customers, Functional Leaders, Business Unit Leaders, Sales, Engineering and other departments to ensure systems and processes are adequately deployed. Ensure customer requests are being addressed in a timely manner.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering with 7-10 years of experience, or Advanced Degree (MS/MBA)
- Experience working with standards and regulations, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Skilled at setting challenging objectives and working through teams to achieve those objectives; able to constructively hold teams and individuals accountable.
- Ability to lead direct reports, and influence/coordinate with various functions in the organization to achieve goals.
- Attention to detail, and a passion for project/program management
- Team collaboration, and the ability to work globally with individuals and leaders at all levels of the organization to achieve goals and resolve problems
- Excellent communication skills; fluent English speaking and writing skills, ability to develop and present information in a concise format.
Desired Qualifications and Attributes
- Working knowledge of Product Regulatory standards, such as UL, CSA, CE, RoHS, REACH, TSCA, PFAS, etc.
- Strong bias for action. If it's not right, fix it!
- Demonstrated skill at building relationships and mutual understanding with teams.
- Demonstrated ability to work on multiple initiatives of varying size, scope and complexity to meet organizational objectives.
- Experienced in working with New Product Development teams and processes to introduce new products and product extensions.
