About the Job
Career and Enrichment Coordinator
The University of Minnesota Rochester, an innovative campus within the University of Minnesota system, is seeking a new colleague with exceptional organizational and communication skills for the vital role of Career and Enrichment Coordinator. Reporting to the Director of Community Engagement and Career Development, this position will play a key role in implementing high-impact practices, strategic initiatives, and career-oriented programs that enhance learning and career outcomes for students.
Collaborating closely with the Director, campus partners, the coaching team, and faculty members, this role will support students' career readiness and enrich their overall educational experience. They will have the opportunity to develop new career services programs, events, and learning opportunities tailored to student needs. They will also engage in strategic outreach to boost student participation, ensuring events resonate with diverse populations.
Key responsibilities include assessing and enhancing campus career programming, facilitating mentorship sessions, and providing experiential learning opportunities that foster meaningful connections. Strong organizational skills will be essential for assisting in budget management, overseeing digital initiatives, and training student employees. Hours and Work Location: This full-time, 40 hour per week position is expected to work in-person at the UMR campus at least 80% of the time in accordance with the Work Location Guidelines. $45,000 - $53,000 depending on qualifications
Duties and Responsibilities Career Development and Program Coordination: 40%
- Coordinate career events by working with the Director, Coaches, Marketing, employers, and student organizations on the following:
Career and involvement fairs Career exploration panels and networking events Mock interview experiences Mentorship sessions Experiential learning sessions - Assists with developing and implementing new career services programs, events, and learning opportunities for students.
- Collaborate with student organizations, faculty advisors, and community partners as needed to support and implement student-led initiatives and events that promote career outcomes.
- Help increase students' involvement and participation by promoting events and initiatives through intentional and strategic outreach to students. This will include partnering with marketing to prompt career readiness and engagement (events, initiatives, etc.) and submit items to Raptor Report.
- Improve campus career programming and awareness by assessing and evaluating campus programs and awareness events.
- Assist with the implementation of processes for shadowing and career observations with employer partners
- Serve as point person for off-campus employers on Handshake
- Facilitate mentorship programs with Director of Community Engagement & Career Development
Community Engagement & Experiential Learning: 40%
- Support the pilot and development of the new center for high impact practices (HIPs)
- Support community engagement experiences including volunteering, community-engaged learning under the direction of the Director of Community Engagement and Career
- With the Director, establish and sustain relationships with faculty, staff and student clubs to promote career and engagement services which increases visibility and informs priorities
- Manage communications to students and employers about UMN initiatives
- Assist Director of Community Engagement and Career Development and the Civic Engagement Scholar with election preparation/student civic engagement
Other Administrative Tasks: 20%
- Assist Director in developing and managing program budgets as needed
- Oversee program websites and other digital initiatives
- Help coordinate survey and data collection for CLI curriculum
- Collect and maintain data related to career programming, student participation and outcomes
- Train and supervise student employees
- Assists Director in the preparation of reports, presentations, and other materials as needed
- Other duties as assigned by Director
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree, or a combination of education and relevant work experience to equal at least 4 years.
Successful candidates may also have:
- Adept at using various software necessary for supporting internships and other employment related opportunities, including but not limited to Handshake, Salesforce CRM, and others.
- Readiness and comfort working independently with ability to assume individual responsibility for assigned projects
- Experience working with undergraduate students from diverse populations
- Experience working collaboratively across departments/areas
- Experience with at least one of the areas served by the Hub (i.e., community engagement, internships, student research)
- Experience marketing or developing effective communication materials
- Experience in data management and assessment tools
- Experience with monitoring budgets
Pay and Benefits
