JEDI Scholarship Application - Urban Planning Internship

We have created the SmithGroup Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) Scholarship Program to advance diversity and inclusion by supporting and mentoring students in architecture, interior design, urban planning, landscape architecture and engineering (civil/structural, mechanical, electrical and fire protection). The program's mission is to provide these students with the opportunity to attain their professional goals while advancing the architecture/engineering/construction (AEC) industry and improving the built environment.

This scholarship includes a one-time award of $6,000 to offset the student's tuition at their current academic institution (5 scholarships are awarded each year). Additionally, the scholarship recipientsserve as paid summer interns atSmithGroup offices across theUnited States. Students who demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion within their university, community, and/or AEC industry are encouraged to apply.

Eligibility:



  • Applicants must be a current undergraduate (at least a junior level standing) or graduate student in an accredited architecture, interior design, urban planning, landscape architecture or engineering program in the United States.
  • Applicants must beenrolled students during the Fall 2025 semester as scholarships are paid directly to the academic institution.
  • Applicants must be available for a paid summer internship.
  • Applicants should have a current GPA of 3.0 or better.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
