LOCATION: Remote - must live in or near Vaya's catchment area. The incumbent must reside in North Carolina or within 40 miles of the North Carolina border. Travel is required for this position.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

The Workforce Development Coordinator is a grant funded position through the Dogwood Health Trust (Dogwood). At Vaya, this individual will fall under the Provider Network Operations reporting structure but will work directly with the Vaya Provider Advisory Council (PAC) on the implementation of the PAC developed Workforce Development Plan.

The Workforce Development Coordinator will play a critical role in developing, updating, and implementing the PAC Workforce Development Plan. The position will work closely with PAC members, Vaya network providers, Vaya staff, and community stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of the plan to improve the behavioral health workforce across Vaya network providers. This person is responsible for implementation, monitoring, reporting, and administrative work related to the plan across sixteen (16) assigned Vaya and Dogwood counties.

This role exercises discretion and independent judgment across mental health, developmental disabilities, substance use disorder (MH/DD/SAS), and medical disciplines to ensure the effective implementation of the PAC Workforce Development Plan. This person will need to regularly analyze the success of the Plan and organize and implement changes as required to improve the behavioral health workforce with Vaya network providers.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Development and Updating of Workforce Development Plan:

  • Help develop and update the Workforce Development Plan developed by the Provider Advisory Council (PAC) in collaboration Vaya.
  • Serve as the liaison between Vaya Health and PAC and the Workforce Development Workgroup and ensure that the objectives on the Workforce Development Plan are met.
  • Educate PAC, network providers, and community stakeholders on the Workforce Development Plan
  • Provide weekly reports to the Workforce Development Workgroup and monthly reports to PAC on the status of activities.

Implementing, Tracking, and Reporting on Status of the Workforce Development Plan:

  • Collaboration and support with Vaya Provider Network and assist network with hiring and recruitment strategies.
  • Travel within various community settings, inclusive of provider offices, and/or local schools/colleges/universities.
  • Conducts employment related research and assists recruitment team with electronic and other methods of sourcing qualified candidates.
  • Assists recruitment team with customized screening and initial contact of applicants to determine qualification and interest level.
  • Provides support coordination of recruitment projects and related services to supervisors, hiring managers, recruitment team members, and others.
  • Participates in and provides analytical support in design, development, and implementation of recruitment projects and programs.
  • Attends and participates in job fairs, community activities, and other public and departmental recruitment-related events.
  • Research and coordinate training and educational opportunities for providers to help them develop their workforce.
  • Develops and maintains comprehensive knowledge of recruitment, employment, HRSC, compensation, benefits, pay administration, and other related organizational policies, practices, procedures, and/or regulations.
  • Serves as resource for recruitment policies, procedures, and practices to supervisors, HR staff, and others. Assists with identifying issues affecting recruitment and implementing recruitment activities to continuously improve process.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of behavioral health services and associated staffing levels
  • Knowledge of Human Resources and effective staff recruitment
  • Proficiency in evaluating and communicating successes and barriers with programs/projects
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail

  • Elevated level of knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and adept at learning software applications

  • Prior project management experience
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a demanding environment

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Business, or related field required. Master's degree preferred.

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience project managing large and complex engagements
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience coordinating across different types of stakeholders
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in provider/staff/corporate recruitment

Preferred work experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience serving or working with BH and I/DD populations is preferred.

Preferred licensure/certification:

  • Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) certification preferred but not required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparation and analysis of documents; viewing a computer terminal; and extensive reading.
  • Physical activity in this position includes crouching, reaching, walking, talking, hearing and repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Sedentary work with lifting requirements up to 10 pounds, sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Mental concentration is required in all aspects of work.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: The person in this position is required to reside in North Carolina or within 40 miles of the North Carolina border.

SALARY: Depending on qualifications & experience of candidate. This position is exempt and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
