The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia is seeking a part-time laboratory specialist position to support the research of Dr. Patricio Ray. The laboratory specialist will assist Dr. Ray, supporting his laboratory that is pursuing research studies to improve the lives of children with renal diseases. This position will support, laboratory and core facilities in the MR-4 research building, as well as clinical research facilities in the Battle Building. Duties include but not limited to:
This is a wage position which is not eligible for leave or other benefits and is limited to 1500 hours of work in a year. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor's degree. Experience: 9 years of experience in a lab technician role. May substitute with Master's or Terminal degree plus 4 years of experience in a lab technician role and supervisory experience. 12 years of experience accepted in lieu of degree. Licensure: None. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. Also requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring finer finger manipulation.
