The University of Virginia's Summer and Special Academic Programs seeks qualified applicants to fill Lecturer positions to teach Summer Session and January Term courses in Summer 2024 and Winter 2025. The mission of the University's Summer Session is to supplement academic year course offerings, to facilitate fulfillment of undergraduate and graduate degree requirements, and to extend access to the resources of the University of Virginia to students enrolled at other colleges or universities, rising high school juniors and seniors, and lifelong learners. Summer session courses run each year from May through August. The University of Virginia's January Term is a university-wide initiative sponsored by the Office of the Vice President and Provost. The purpose of January Term is to provide students with unique opportunities: new courses that address topics of current interest, study abroad programs, undergraduate research seminars, and interdisciplinary courses. The intensive format of January Term classes encourages extensive student-faculty contact and allows students and faculty to immerse themselves in a subject. Successful candidates must hold a graduate degree in a relevant field. This is a part-time, tenure-ineligible position which does not carry benefits. To apply, please submit an application online at https://jobs.virginia.edu/ and attach a letter of interest, curriculum vitae and the names of and contact information for three references.
