Kennedy Jenks is currently recruiting to fill an open Senior Design Delivery Engineer position to help lead our multidisciplinary teams of Design staff. This Senior Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing company Design Delivery guidelines, documenting best practices, establishing typical workflows, and sharing Design Delivery knowledge throughout the company. The Design Delivery Specialist will report to the firm's Engineering Systems Lead within our Technical Excellence Organization.

This role will also provide project teams with multidiscipline Design Delivery implementation and modeling production support. The role will be responsible for supporting the development and use of Design Delivery Execution Plans, designed to satisfactorily set up projects in accordance with the company's guidelines, including coordinating project models, file exports, and deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Develop, implement, and maintain company Design Delivery guidelines to stay current with emerging processes, technologies and approaches. This could include:

    • Update, evolve, document, and educate staff on best practices.
    • Update, evolve, establish, and educate staff on typical workflows.
    • Create and evolve initial project setup approaches with company-typical workflow documents.
    • Initiate discipline-specific models and prepare for the modeling team.
    • Provide standard approaches for Design project kick-off information and develop the project Design Execution Plan guidelines.


  • Work as part of a Design Delivery/Design Technology support team to set consistent approaches that achieve consistent results.
  • Act as liaison for -all design delivery related and necessary coordination both internally and externally.
  • Develop and lead regular in-house training opportunities.
  • Provide shadow training to staff .
  • Be responsible for content creation and maintenance, including all t, components, and custom families, all following the company standards.
  • Stay current with the most recent industry trends in design technology (e.g., generative design, AI-supported design, etc.).
  • Identify, research, and work collaboratively to develop and implement new technologies to improve design delivery efficiency, quality, and consistency.
  • Support and assist the development of automation tools to facilitate data exchanges between different systems to assist with design delivery processes.
  • Coordination with KJ's Applied Data Management Group to facilitate data exchanges to/from geographic information systems (GIS) supporting design delivery and asset management projects.



Qualifications:



  • 15-20 years of professional design experience with expertise in the delivery of multidisciplined design projects.
  • Technical, expert-level knowledge of design delivery processes and technologies.
  • Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD C3D, AutoCAD P&ID, Navisworks Manage, ProjectWise, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Bluebeam REVU, and Microsoft Products. MicroStation product experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of water, wastewater design industry, and plan production cycle.
  • Experience with multiple Design/delivery/production roles: training and software support, mentorship, designer/modeler production support, and management.
  • Ability to interact, collaborate and communicate with multidisciplinary project teams positively and proactively.
  • Eager to support staff with a positive attitude, passion, and patience.
  • Ability to uphold the use of standards and escalate issues in a timely fashion.
  • Use skills to best fit company Engineering Systems infrastructure and company CAD standards.
  • Strong writing, editing, and research skills.
  • Ability to think critically and objectively when considering a potential new technology adoption.
  • Self-motivation to learn new concepts quickly and independently.
