Schedule dependent upon assigned classes. Salaries are dependent upon education and semesters taught at MCC per the MCC Adjunct Faculty Agreement 24/25.

The courses we are looking to hire an adjunct for SP25 are in the following area:
- EGR 151: Engineering Graphics
- EGR 251: Statistics
- EGR 252: Dynamics

The courses we are looking to hire an adjunct for FA25 are in the following area:
- ADD 212: PHP & MySQL
- ADD 215: Amazon Web Services
- ADD 247: Application Development in JavaScript (using React)
- ADD 153: Advanced Web Development

The courses we are looking to hire an adjunct for SP26 are in the following area:
- ADD 245: Machine Learning with Python

ADD Course Information
McHenry County College is seeking multiple experienced and knowledgeable adjunct instructors to teach a variety of new programming and web development courses. This role includes the opportunity to develop your own course materials and structure, as most of these are new courses being introduced for the first time. Instructors should have prior teaching experience, strong content expertise, and the ability to design and deliver effective, engaging classes. Flexible options for teaching either live during the day or asynchronously online.


Position Summary

This division is home to the following: Architectural and Engineering Design Technology, Automation, Robotics, and Mechatronics, Automotive Technology, Computers and Digital Media, Construction Management Technology, Engineering, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning, Manufacturing Management Technology, Network Security, Precision Machining, Programming, Software Application Design and Development, and Welding.

MCC instructors are higher-education professionals who champion student learning. They engage and inspire students, applying innovative teaching and learning pedagogies in instruction. They assess student learning to ensure students success, staying abreast of trends in the discipline. Our instructors collaborate within the College as discipline experts, helping the College reach its strategic goals through active participation in college committees and by promoting the College to future students throughout our community.

*** This Adjunct Pool AY24/25 will be active until May 31, 2025.


Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

Including but are not limited to:

  • Teach the assigned class in accordance with the learning objectives and Concourse syllabus using instructional strategies to engage students
  • Develop and manage working syllabus, course materials, and assignments
  • Provide feedback and evaluate students' performance throughout the learning process which could involve being available for student conferences either before or after class, and by College email if necessary
  • Maintain and submit class syllabus, grades and attendance records, and required course related data
  • Use educational technology (i.e. course management platform such as Canvas)
  • Assess student learning and submit required reports of assessment results
  • Maintain currency in professional field
  • Work cooperatively within the department, the division, and throughout the College in striving for educational excellence

Required Qualifications

  • Course specific minimum qualifications are approved annually by the Board of Trustees and are available in all Academic Division Offices.
  • Demonstrated teaching experience is preferred.
  • Commitment to the mission of the community college, and to teaching and motivating community college students in ways appropriate to their diverse backgrounds
  • Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
