Subcontract Buyer

The subcontract buyer is responsible for sourcing and managing subcontract suppliers. Ownership of the process from Request for Quote to Purchase Order Receipt.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities the duties and responsibilities are detailed below, but not limited to the following:

  • Identify and Qualify subcontract suppliers.
  • Source quotes for Estimating and new contracts.
  • Negotiating agreements for long-term jobs.
  • Purchase Order creation and management.
  • Supplier Performance
  • Collaboration with internal teams, such as Production Control, Quality, Engineering, and Shipping & Receiving.
  • Communicate schedule with the company driver.
  • Backup for others within the Purchasing Department.


Qualifications:

  • Professional telephone etiquette and overall communication to all levels within the organization.
  • Microsoft Office Skills
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize, especially under pressure.


  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Blueprint knowledge.
  • DPAS, DFARS, & ITAR knowledge.


Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or GED. Subcontract buying experience preferred.
