PrincipalEnvironmental Engineer

This is a key position at the plant reporting to the Plant Environmental Manager. The role is hands on and the front line for environmental affairs. This position will work within the corporate strategy and implement local strategy and tactics.

Your Day to Day:




  • Acts as a technical lead for EHS issues and opportunities, in areas of facility environmental compliance in support of manufacturing and fabrication

    operations.
  • Provides subject matter expertise, assistance, and support for environmental issues site wide and serves as key point of contact for environmental

    issues and events.
  • Maintains all ISO 14001 EMS and facility environmental procedures.
  • Effectively communicates new initiatives, standards, regulations, and events throughout the organization. Reports on performance of the EMS to

    the Plant Manager for management review and as the basis for continual improvement.
  • Maintains working knowledge of permits and regulations applicable to the facility and performs inspections to ensure compliance with the same.
  • Collaborates with colleagues across multiple disciplines within the company to assure effective program implementation and cohesiveness.

    Analyzes and trends environmental performance data.
  • Ensures that all required environmental compliance monitoring data is collected, maintained, and transmitted in a timely manner.

    Leads and/or participates in incident investigations or reviews.
  • Conducts and/or facilitates EMS audits, assessments and identifies, implements, and/or partners with sites and business functions to implement

    effective corrections and controls. Conducts routine informal facility inspections to monitor compliance on a real-time basis.
  • Leads improvement initiatives through data analysis related to site specific environmental issues. Supports corporate environmental efforts related

    to sustainability, permitting, reporting and data management.
  • Drives safety first culture. Practices and promotes safe work habits and adheres to safety procedures and guidelines. Promotes health and safety

    awareness throughout the organization though effective employee communications, participation, and programming.
  • Manages all aspects of environmental contractors.
  • Oversees keeping of environmental records, as required


What you need to be successful in this role:



  • Bachelors degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering or related technical degree
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a regulatory compliance role
  • Preferred 10-12 years of experience


Experience in:



  • Clean Air Act, Title V, RMP regulations
  • ISO 14001, Environmental Management System
  • Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, solid and hazardous waste management and minimization, corrective action/legacy management plan
  • Naturally occurring radioactive materials licensing and remediation
  • Groundwater plume monitoring and corrective action
  • Clean Water Act, wastewater management, permitting and minimization, surface impoundments
  • Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act, TRI
  • Work with state and federal regulatory officials and manage consent decrees and special agreements
  • Spill Prevention, Countermeasures and Controls program
  • Stormwater Management
