We are currently seeking applicants for a Mechanical Engineering Intern in the Engineering Department of our Power Production located at the New Madrid Power Plant in Marston, MO.

This is a paid co-op available during the 2025 school year. This internship is available summer and fall semesters. Normal working days are Monday through Friday. You could potentially receive course credit while working at AECI! Contact your school's career center for more information.

Qualified applicants must be currently enrolled in a mechanical engineering curriculum and have successfully completed two (2) years of work towards a Bachelor of Science by the end of the Spring 2025 semester with a preferred GPA at least 3.0. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Access) and AutoCad is desired.

As a mechanical engineering intern, projects may include the following:

  • Perform various engineering tasks focused on increasing the reliability of our existing coal and gas plant fleet.
  • Perform reviews of plant equipment failure mechanisms and providing preventative
    maintenance recommendations.
  • Assist with coordination of testing, data collection, reviewing reports for accuracy, writing
    bid specifications and evaluating construction bids from multiple contractors.
  • Assist with power plant improvement projects such as evaluating maintenance and cost
    saving improvements.
