Summary:

STS Technical Services is actively seeking candidates for a Mechanic II role with our Fortune 350 Client! In this role, you'll need to be qualified in heavy and medium truck mechanics. Air conditioning certification is preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assemble and/or install a variety of major and minor subassemblies, parts and systems as directed. Typical parts are brackets, wiring, radiators, axles, air systems, hydraulic steering and lines, air lines, electronic lines, valves, tanks, brackets, linkages, etc.

2. Cut, fit, bend and adjust parts for fit or function as directed

3. Drill, ream or tap holes for mounting or clearance as directed

4. Measure wire, tubing or hose paths and cut tubing to length as directed

5. Fill batteries and accessory grease points and apply sealants as directed

6. Start up engine, check dashboard instruments for proper function

7. Assemblies weigh up to 10,000 lbs., handle with appropriate equipment, such as cranes, dollies etc. which are provided

8. Install various aftermarket parts and assemblies on truck such as brackets, wiring, hydraulic lines, air lines, etc.

9. Ability to follow work instructions and quality standards

10. Ability to follow engineering prints and bill of materials

11. Perform repairs/alterations on vehicles such as drilling holes or modify sheet medal

12. Install various harnesses and batteries

13. Requires the use of simple arithmetic and some measuring instruments such as caliper or scale

14. Diagnose and/or repair problems and provide failure analysis on a follow-up service report on all areas of responsibility

15. Perform other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent

2. Must have a Commercial Driver's License

3. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the Automotive Field Service and/or Automotive Technical Support areas (extensive mechanical experience)

4. Prior experience using pneumatic hand tools, drill, and truck parts

5. Ability to read Technical Manuals and blueprints and follow work instructions

6. Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally and present a professional appearance during this project assignment

7. Personal protective equipment such as steel toed boots is a contractor requirement.

8. Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.

9. Experience, certification, and education needed.

10. Able to perform multi axle wheel alignment.

11. Ability to use software and program vehicle computers.

12. Be able to provide estimates for repairs required.

13. Able to perform complete vehicle overhaul to include frame replacement.
