Summary of Job Duties:- Joint planning with project investigators include working with the Rohwer Research Station Resident Director and Research Project Leaders to plan and coordinate the execution of agronomic research. Joint planning with the Rohwer Research Station Resident Director for general station crop production.

- Research and crop production management include the daily planning and tasks for field preparation, planting, irrigation, pesticide applications, equipment selection, equipment maintenance, operation techniques, all pest management, data collection, and harvest.

-Research and crop production data collection and field records required by the project investigators and Rohwer Research Station Resident Director. Continuing education that's job-related along with attending professional meetings is required when opportunities are available.

- Training and supervision of certain non-classified and temporary support personnel towards field operations, research techniques, equipment safety, and operations.

- Operation, maintenance, design, and fabrication of research and production equipment.

- Other duties as assigned by Rohwer Research Station Resident Director. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications
B.S. degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in Agronomy. Consideration will be given to applicants with a degree in a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with and/or knowledge of field crop production and farm machinery is highly desirable. Experience or knowledge of field plot techniques is also desirable.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
The employee must be able to perform physical work duties such as lifting the minimum weight of 75 pounds. The employee must have the ability to carry out job duties with minimal supervision. Work is assigned in broad terms sufficient for the employee to understand the project goals and results desired. The employee must then be able to make decisions in the absence of the immediate supervisor.
The communication and understanding of plant physiology, fertility, irrigation requirements and operations is required. Knowledge of disease symptomology, insect and weed identification and threshold levels, statistics, experimental design and field plot layout. Computer knowledge, equipment operations and mechanical experience is very beneficial.

Minimum $43,888. Commensurate with education and experience.
