Minimum Qualifications:

With submitted materials, the candidate must demonstrate

• Master's degree in journalism (or a related field) from an accredited institution of higher education conferred by the date of initial appointment

Professional applicable equivalencies may be considered on the above qualifications.

• At least two years of noteworthy professional experience in sports journalism

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated ability to teach introductory content to support the core curriculum at the undergraduate level, including foundational courses in media writing

• Demonstrated ability to teach multiple courses related to sports journalism

• At least five years of noteworthy full-time professional experience related to sports journalism with major national or regional news outlets

• Professional experience in covering NCAA Division 1 Sports, as well as expertise in investigative journalism, particularly working with Freedom of Information Act requests

• Two or more years of successful teaching experience

• Experience in administering and implementing strategic initiatives, new courses, and curricular programs for sports journalism

• Demonstrated ability of professional skills in broadcast/video/multiplatform journalism, including working in a production control room, web production, audience analytics, and/or social media
