Kamatics, a divison of Kaman that speicalizes in self-lubricating bearings and engineered products, has an opening for a dynamic and motivated Part-time Skilled CNC Machinist to join our team in Bloomfield, CT. This position is for part-time on 2nd shift and the incumbent employee will choose their hours. For this position, we offer a flexible schedule, competitive pay, and a 401k with a 100% dollar for dollar match on the first 5% you contribute to the 401(k) plan. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Machinist VI

    May provide technical supervision, training, set-up, tool adjustment, trouble shooting, etc., support to others
  • May act as Team Leader in Team Leader's absence and demonstrate leadership
  • Independently sets up, adjusts, troubleshoots and checks out programs
  • Operates all standard axis (3 Lathe, 4 Mill) numerically controlled machine tools to perform a complex series of progressive machining operations on a diversified line of work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring a high degree of skill
  • Setups involve familiarity with and understanding of program formats involving combinations of operations such as milling, boring, recessing, turning, drilling, threading, screw machine operation, etc., to the capacity of the machine and control factor
  • Works from program, operation sheets, and machine setup instructions, may work from verbal instructions of hand drawings
  • Self-sufficient with all aspects of machine set up on machines within their area of responsibility axis (2 Lathe, 3 Mill)

Machinist VII

  • Independently set up, adjust, troubleshoot and check programming. Operate all multi-axis CNC machining centers, 3 or more Lathe and 4 or more Mill, to perform a complex series of progressive machining operations on a diversified line of work to close and exacting tolerances and finish specifications requiring a high degree of skill
  • Setups involve familiarity with and understanding of program formats involving combinations of operations such as milling, boring, recessing, turning, drilling, threading, screw machine operation, etc., to the capacity of the machine and control factor
  • Work from CNC program, operation sheets, and machine setup instructions, may work from verbal instructions or hand drawings
  • May provide technical supervision or training, and set-up, tool adjustment, trouble shooting, etc., support to others.
  • May act as Team Leader in Team Leader's absence and demonstrate leadership

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; a Machining Certificate preferred

Experience: Mimimum of five year of machining experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Able to prescribe an appropriate inspection method based on a wide range of GD&T callouts
  • Proficient in use of shop math
  • Provide technical supervision/training
  • Work independently, no supervision
  • Ability to troubleshoot programing and process issues
  • Has working knowledge of the relationship between federate and surface finish, as well as surface speed to material type, of most standard aerospace materials
  • Familiar with operating of live tooling and sub-spindle machines and can set-up and operate as required
  • Performs setups on multi-axis CNCs within established time standards
