Linda and Bipin Doshi Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering

Job Description

The Linda and Bipin Doshi Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering (ChBE) at Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the next endowed Chair for this rising department. One of our key campus initiatives is the expansion of health-related research, which includes the creation of new degree programs and the construction of a new Bioplex research building. The new chair will play a key role in this university initiative and set the strategic vision for the ChBE department as it expands with new degrees and research thrusts in biomedical and biochemical engineering. Responsibilities include leading the department in this new direction, recruiting top faculty to fill open positions, aggressively growing undergraduate and graduate enrollments, and increasing the amounts and impact of funded research.

The next Chair will be a possibility thinker and a vocal champion for the department within the academic community and in the chemical and biochemical industry. The ChBE Department Chair will build bridges with other academic departments and centers through joint recruitment of faculty and will build upon the department's existing strengths, including a student-centered, experiential learning environment, talented and ambitious faculty, and a distinguished alumni base, to elevate the department's national and international reputation and rankings.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will possess excellent leadership and administrative skills with relevant experience in these areas. They should have a strong record of scholarly research and hold an earned doctorate in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusivity and a record of excellence in research, teaching, and service at a level commensurate with an appointment as a tenured, full professor. The successful candidate will exhibit visionary leadership abilities, rooted in shared governance, with a commitment to building a high-performance department.

Application Materials

Interested candidates should electronically submit: 1) a detailed cover letter, 2) a curriculum vitae, 3) a statement of leadership philosophy, 4) a statement on perspective on challenges, strategies, and vision for the ChBE Department, and 4) contact information for at least five professional references. Application materials are requested to be submitted using Reference Number 00092022 at: https://hr.mst.edu/careers/academic-employment/. Acceptable electronic formats are PDF and MS Word. For questions prior to submittal of an application, please contact the chair of the search committee, Dr. Mehdi Ferdowsi at ferdowsi@mst.edu.

Application Deadline

Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and the review of applications will continue until the position is filled. For full consideration, applicants should apply by October 31, 2024.
