Job Description
The environmental engineering and chemistry programs at the Missouri University of Science and Technology are recruiting a postdoctoral scholar focused on investigating PFAS contamination fate and transport processes relate to occurrence in Missouri and the Midwest and remediation technologies development. The research will involve field sampling of various environmental matrices including groundwater, soils, and vegetation along with sampling across full-scale water treatment and reclamation facilities. Bench- scale systems for PFAS remediation including vegetative, biological, and chemical systems will be investigated. Experience in analysis using advanced analytic techniques such as QTOF LC-MS/MS systems is desired. Training will be provided for Shimadzu 9030 QTOF LC-MS/MS complimented with iMScope MALDI imaging system. The research project is a collaboration with faculty across the University of Missouri Universities.
Qualifications
Required Qualification:
- A Ph.D. in environmental engineering, environmental chemistry or a related discipline.
- Comprehensive understanding of PFAS.
- Experience using targeted and potentially non-targeted analytical techniques to quantify PFAS in various environmental matrices.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience assisting proposal preparation for federal funding agencies.
- Experience constructing and operation bench-scale reactors.
- Ability to work as part of a collaborative team across multi-disciplinary and multi-universities.
