Thoracic/Bone/Soft Tissue Pathologist

The successful candidate will be appointed as a member of the department at the Assistant/Associate/Professor level (non- tenure academic track) and will have clinical responsibilities in surgical pathology within a subspecialty group that is responsible for pulmonary and cardiac pathology, including transplant pathology, as well as bone and soft tissue cases. This combination and distribution of cases on the service may change over time depending on clinical volume and faculty makeup. In addition to routine Surgical Pathology work, the appointee will be given the opportunity to work closely with multi-specialty UW Comprehensive Cancer Center and organ transplantation groups on collaborative clinical and translational research projects. The laboratory processes approximately 65,000 surgical specimens per year. The University of Wisconsin Medical Center is a tertiary care center with comprehensive programs in cancer and transplantation. It is currently ranked first in the country for lung and pancreas transplant.

The chosen candidate will teach medical students, residents, and fellows, including the thoracic pathology fellow. The chosen applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

MD or DO or equivalent

General surgical pathology training with subspecialty training/expertise in pulmonary or bone/soft tissue pathology is required.

For an appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS Track.

Board eligible or board certified in anatomic pathology (AP) or combination of anatomic pathology and clinical pathology (AP/CP) by the American Board of Pathology (ABP).

Full or Part Time: 80% - 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
