Job Summary:

This is a position for a pediatric anesthesiologist primarily to provide clinical anesthesia care with teaching opportunities to residents and medical students. If appointed on the CHS track, duties will also include education and research components.


Responsibilities:

Duties for appointment to the Clinician Teacher (CT) track: Provision of clinical anesthetic care to surgical patients (i.e. working in the operating room, plus evening and weekend call ) in an anesthesia team model. Provision of clinical anesthetic care will be primarily, but not exclusively, for pediatric surgical patients. Teaching of residents and medical students in the operating room, and occasional didactic sessions.

Duties for appointment to CHS track: Major teaching responsibilities for residents and medical students in the operating room, and didactic sessions. Primary emphasis of teaching will be in the pediatric anesthesia patient care area. Provision of clinical anesthetic care will be primarily, but not exclusively, for pediatric surgical patients (i.e. working in the operating room, plus evening and weekend call) in an anesthesia team model or personally performed anesthesia. Opportunity for participation or to lead clinical research for interested and qualified candidates.

The successful applicant will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

Required
Terminal Degree
Wisconsin medical license or eligible for Wisconsin licensure (MD or DO). Board eligible or certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology


Qualifications:

Completion of anesthesiology residency program, and certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Anesthesiology. Subspecialty fellowship training in pediatric anesthesiology.

For appointment at Associate Professor or Professor rank on CHS Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CHS Track.

For appointment at Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor rank on CT Track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate or Professor on the CT Track.

This position will be a dual appointment with the UW Madison and UW Medical Foundation.

Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles listed in this posting. The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.
