POSITION TITLE: Postdoctoral Associate
POSITION SUMMARY:
An NIH-funded Postdoctoral Associate position is available for a motivated individual to join the lab of Professor Pietro Paolo Sanna in the Department of Immunology & Microbiology at Scripps Research to study the neurobiology of substance abuse and neuroAIDS. This dynamic multidisciplinary research team uses in vivo, biochemical and genomic strategies including gene expression analysis by single cell RNA-Sequencing, electrophysiology and the establishment of neuronal cell types from induced pluripotent stem cells and fibroblasts.

Successful candidates will be creative, highly motivated, able to work semi-independently, and have a strong background in electrophysiology techniques, molecular neurobiology, cell biology, RNA, DNA and protein techniques, and/or self-administration and behavioral techniques. Include CV with three references.

Postdoctoral Associates are appointed positions for the purpose of developing scholarly competence, working under the supervision of a Scripps Research Faculty member. These appointments are normally not renewed beyond a total of five years. Postdoctoral Associates cannot apply for external funding either as a Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator without prior approval from a Departmental Chair. Postdoctoral Associates do not have consulting privileges.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must possess a doctoral degree. A pending doctoral degree may be considered with approval of the Principal Investigator.
• Proficiency in field recording and LTP/LTD required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position works in a laboratory or vivarium environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.

COMPENSATION: Postdoctoral Associates will be hired following the National Institute of Health and California's exempt salary guidelines, which provide for a starting range of $68,000- $73,230. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
