JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Associate Dean for Research and Innovation is responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight of the Center for Nursing Research. This position's overarching goal is to facilitate the success of research and the research faculty and provide a vision and strategic direction for the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing's research enterprise.

Responsibilities:

  • Mentoring Faculty: Mentor junior faculty members, providing guidance on research career development and strategies for building funded research programs to ensure successful grant applications and accepted publications.

  • Leadership and Oversight: Provide leadership and oversight for the research mission within their college or division. This includes evaluating research center opportunities within the university as well as with outside stakeholders and managing research budgets and programs.

  • Collaboration and Infrastructure: Collaborate with other colleges to create interdisciplinary research initiatives. Build infrastructure to support research across the college. Support research initiatives across the college and university.

  • Workshops and Support: Organizing workshops and initiatives to support faculty research. Evaluate grant cost-sharing opportunities and present findings to the dean.

  • Liaison and Partnerships: Serve as a liaison to other university research offices, fostering collaborative, interdisciplinary research both within their college and with other schools and colleges.

  • Supervision and Financial Planning: Supervise staff handling research administration, compliance, and financial matters. Work with the finance and administration team to create research financial projections. Supervise research faculty within the college.

  • Promotion and Tenure: Oversee the promotional and tenure process within the college for provisional and promotional reviews.

Qualifications:

Successful applicants must have a research doctorate in nursing or a closely related field and a documented commitment to teaching and service. To be successful in your pursuit of this opportunity, you should have experience teaching master's and doctoral level courses in resident and online platforms with experience in academic administration. Further, you should have significant scholarly accomplishments, grant funding, and a record of national and international service.

You should have an active research portfolio with the potential for attracting extramural research and program funding.

You should also be able to demonstrate your achievements in teaching, scholarship, and service commensurate with a tenure-eligible appointment. You must also hold a valid United States nursing license and be eligible for a Pennsylvania license. You are an ideal addition to our faculty and the administration at large if you can demonstrate previous leadership capacity on behalf of a faculty group and in working with all levels of complex organizations and University administration. Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing:

The Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing is one of the most comprehensive colleges of nursing in any public university in the country. With over $17 million in research expenditures since the college's inception in 2013, the college has been awarded over $8 million for gerontology research, over $4 million for the development of a sexual assault forensic examination telehealth center (SAFE-T Center), and approximately $1.5 million to support clinical and translational science.
