Utilizes a variety of specialized technical skills in order to perform Neurodiagnostic (ND) procedures without direct physician supervision. Prepares patients for and conducts both routine and specialized ND procedures in three areas of specialization (EEG, EMG, Evoked Potentials, Long-term Monitoring, Autonomic Testing or Transcranial Doppler. Serves as clinical preceptor for new employees, residents, fellows and students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. ASET EEG Core Certification with three (3) years Neurodiagnostic experience OR Associates in Allied Health Field with two (2) years Neurodiagnostic experience.
2. R.EEG.T Registry required.
3. Must obtain CLTM credential within two (2) years of Preceptor hire.
4. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. 1. Prepares daily patient schedule to ensure efficient and productive work flow, as monitored by supervision.
2. Performs ND procedures in accordance with policy and procedure guidelines in the Neuro Labs, at the bedside and in critical care areas of the facility under potentially emergent conditions, thus demonstrating the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned area.
3. Must meet all competencies related to the designated area of specialization.
4. Performs as an ND Tech in clinical and on-call rotations as needed
5. The Preceptor supports unit leadership in the design, planning and integration of ND education and professional development within the scope of practice of neurodiagnostics.
6. Assists department leadership in the assessment of new department employees' learning needs and development of employee orientation and education plans to ensure consistency in implementation and validation.
7. Demonstrates clinical expertise by serving as a resource and role model for department personnel.
8. Integrates patient education activities into staff development and continuing education programs.
9. Coordinates orientation needs for all unit employees.
10. Collaborates with the unit management team to develop standards and policies and procedures ensuring that they are in compliance with regulatory and accrediting bodies.
11. Assists management team with departmental QA initiatives.
12. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of the equipment, supplies, procedure rooms, and work areas of the Neuro Labs.
13. Participates in educational and inservice opportunities continuously working towards increasing the professional level of patient care rendered and acquiring a better understanding of the services and functions of the Neuro Labs.
14. Assists in providing inservices regarding the principles of ND procedures and equipment operation to members of the professional medical community.
15. Performs ND procedures in accordance with policy and procedure guidelines in the Neuro Labs, at the bedside and in critical care areas of the facility under potentially emergent conditions.
