DEPARTMENT OF RACE, ETHNIC & GENDER STUDIES (REGS)

The Department of Race, Ethnic, and Gender Studies (REGS) at University of Missouri-Kansas City is hiring an adjunct instructor to teach part-time on topics related to Race, Ethnicity, Gender, and Sexuality. The position involves teaching undergraduate students in introductory courses that provide a foundational understanding of ongoing issues in these areas. As an interdisciplinary department, the Instructors may come from a variety of scholarly backgrounds.

UMKC is a comprehensive urban land-grant university, and education in issues of Race, Ethnic, and Gender Studies is seen as an important part of that tradition.

The Race, Ethnic, and Gender Studies Department recognizes that UMKC faculty, staff, and students work and reside on the unceded ancestral lands of the Kiikaapoi (Kickapoo), Washtage Monzhan (Kaw/Kansa), Osage, and Ochethi akowi (Sioux) Peoples.

Qualifications

A Master of Arts or Ph.D. in the humanities or social sciences is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching college/university courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. The REGS Department also values community service/work experience.

Part time, non-tenure track, non-benefit eligible academic position. The number of hours per week vary depending on the opportunity.
