Position: Part-time Education Abroad Recruiting Assistants (2)

Hours: 8-10 hours/week

Start Date: Monday, May 13, 2024

Hourly Rate: $12/hour

Department Description

The Education Abroad (EA) office is a fast-paced and student-centered environment that serves as the primary administrative office facilitating education abroad opportunities at all Penn State campuses. Job Responsibilities & Requirements

The Education Abroad (EA) office within Penn State Global at University Park is currently seeking two (2) recruiting assistants to join our team on campus this summer. These positions will report to the outreach and engagement coordinator on the Advising and Engagement team and will work in person at the University Park campus.

The recruiting assistant positions are part time (8-10 hours per week). Candidates selected for the position will begin training on Monday, May 13, 2024. Those selected will continue to work in our office through August 2024.

These roles will be responsible for the following:

  • Representing the Education Abroad office at all Penn State summer recruitment and orientation sessions including, but not limited to, New Student Orientation (NSO), Penn State Admissions Spend a Summer Day sessions, First-Year Seminars, and classroom presentations. The assistants will promote education abroad opportunities, engage with students and their families, and give informational presentations.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the Advising & Engagement team
Qualifications
  • Previous participation in an approved Penn State education abroad program is preferred
  • Strong desire to promote and advocate for international education opportunities and engage with diverse groups of students, staff, and faculty
  • Outgoing and enthusiastic personality, confident public speaker, self-motivated
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Willingness to work as an integral part of the EA team
  • Experience working or volunteering with diverse campus constituents preferred
Weekly Schedule

Recruiting assistants must be available to work three (3) to four (4) weekdays each week (excluding Fridays) from 11:30 AM - 2:30 PM. They must also be available to work some Sundays throughout the summer in the same time window. Because assistants have responsibilities solely on campus, the ideal candidate will reside in or within driving distance of State College, PA.
