Senior Roadway Engineer

Benesch is seeking to hire a Senior Roadway Engineer/Technical Manager to join the Roadway Design team in our Georgia division.In this position, you'll hold a first-level technical management position with guidance from senior leadership. This role entails supervising staff, mentoring their technical skills, and contributing to project management. Your responsibilities will involve managing technical project elements, communicating progress and issues, and actively participating in professional organizations. This position is exempt.

As a Technical Manager I, you'll play a pivotal role in the execution of projects and the development of technical talent within the Georgia division. Your expertise and leadership will directly impact project success, ensuring the completion of accurate and compliant technical analyses and designs. Through your mentorship and involvement in professional organizations, you'll contribute to the continuous advancement of technical knowledge and the Georgia division reputation within the industry.


Location

This position can report to either our Atlanta or Augusta office location on a hybrid work schedule.


The Impact You Will Have

  • Provide guidance and direction in technical project elements, ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of analyses and designs, thereby enhancing project outcomes and client satisfaction
  • Communicate technical progress and issues to Project Managers promptly, facilitating informed decision-making and proactive problem-solving, ultimately contributing to project efficiency and success
  • Train and mentor staff, imparting technical knowledge and skills and fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the team
  • Perform, review, and manage technical analyses and designs, ensuring completeness and compliance with quality standards, thereby mitigating risks and ensuring project integrity
  • Actively participate in professional organizations, seeking leadership roles, and opportunities for publication and presentations, enhancing personal expertise and contributing to industry advancement
  • Assist with business development efforts and proposal development, leveraging technical expertise to secure new opportunities and drive company growth
  • Identify opportunities for implementation of technical processes Benesch-wide, standardizing work plans and enhancing efficiency and consistency in project execution
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on projects, providing specialized knowledge and insights to optimize project outcomes and deliver added value to clients
  • Continually advance knowledge of software, codes, and standards through training and seminars, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and emerging technologies
  • Share knowledge to enhance organizational learning and performance, facilitating continuous improvement and innovation across projects and teams


What You Will Need

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Professional Engineering License in the state of Georgia
  • Previous experience in MicroStation and OpenRoads
  • Showcase strong analytical and problem-solving skills, enabling efficient decision-making and resolution of complex technical challenges
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills to interface with stakeholders, fostering clear and transparent communication channels and promoting collaboration
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, facilitating clear and concise interactions with clients, team members, and stakeholders
